1st Annual Texas Chili Cook-Off Information
The Texas Chili Cook-Off will take place on Monday, October 22nd.
If you intend to enter the cook-off, please send me a short email, so I know roughly how many chilis to plan for. Click here to send Mr. Cushing an email.
You can prepare any type of chili that you wish: red, white, green... meat or vegetarian... with or without beans... mild, medium, hot... etc.
Please assist our students with allergies by making a half-sheet sign for your chili which includes
(a) a NAME for the chili, and (b) its INGREDIENTS. Get creative with the names, but please don't use your real names.
4 1/2 quarts of chili will provide a 1 oz. taste for every student, so please try to make that amount, or more. Obviously, the more people that get to try your chili, the better chance you have of winning one of the awards. Awards? Yep! (see below)
Ladles, spoons, and serving cups will be provided by Mr. Cushing.
Please label your crock pot with your family name.
Bring your chili to the FACS room between 7:00 and 8:00 am.
Pick up your crock pot after school between 2:30 and 3:15 pm.
There are four awards that will be given out after the cook-off:
The Sam Houston Award ... Best of Show
The Alamo Award ... 2nd Place
The Santa Anna Award ... Spiciest & Meanest Chili
The Tejano Award ... Most Authentically Texan What does that mean? See below.
